Description
Students gain an overview of the value of social network data for analyzing societal processes. This involves dealing with various modalities in the data including geospatial positions, temporal patterns, semantic content, or network structures. Students are provided with a real-world dataset and are able to work on a societal topic of their choice.
Learning objectives
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to
• Apply theoretical knowledge of ethnographic methods into practice
• Apply a range of these methods in a specific social context, addressing a specific research question
• Plan, coordinate, and execute field work as a team
• Gain unique insights for a particular social context
• Present these insights for a particular target audience
