Description

Masters and PhD students from across Europe will jointly study legal, technical and social science research methods and test them out in practice. The workshop will include guest lectures from leading experts in the field and is part of the Joint Doctoral Training program on Law, Technology and Democracy.

Learning objectives

After successfully completing this course,  students will be able to: 
•    Understand the basics of empirical legal research
•    Be able to apply in a basic manner at least four empirical legal research methods in practice
•    Be aware of the benefits and limitations of different research methods
•    Apply these research methods in cases related to technology and democracy.

•    Legal research methods workshops in close collaboration with guest speakers
•    Application of legal research methods
•    Final presentation of research
•    Assessment: Continuous assessment.
